COBB COUNTY, Georgia – A five-hour standoff at a Cobb County home ended in murder-suicide with the suspect taking his own life.

Police confirmed the deaths at the scene to Channel 2’s Darryn Moore.

Cobb County Police and SWAT teams were called in for a domestic situation at a Brinkley Road house just after 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said it started as a family dispute and an armed man barricaded himself inside the house shortly after.

The SWAT team attempted to negotiate with the shooter. After no response, they turned on their sirens and fired a flashbang.

The shooter was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The relationship between the shooter and the victim is not confirmed at this time.

Other family members were able to come out. Investigators are working to find out what led to the argument.

This is the second armed confrontation in Cobb County in less than a week.

During the weekend, Unsfored Thurmond III was shot dead by a Smyrna police officer after pointing a gun he was holding at the officers.
