Maine (WABI) – The number of newly recorded coronavirus cases in Maine has doubled.

After several days of new cases in the 300s, Wednesday’s report from the Maine CDC shows 706 new cases.

There are also 11 new deaths to report – 4 are from Penobscot County, 5 are from Cumberland County and one each from Kennebec and York counties.

The total death toll in Maine now stands at 530.

The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic is 34,963 with 28,523 confirmed, according to the Maine CDC.

There are 68 COVID-19 patients in intensive care, 27 of them are on ventilators.

Cumberland County is now crossing the 10,000 newly registered case mark. 168 new ones there is the highest total in the state.

123 in York County, 99 in Androscoggin County.

There are 88 new cases in Penobscot County, 42 in Kennebec and 20 in Somerset.

18 new cases reported in Aroostook County.

Unique digits reported in Waldo and Piscataquis counties.
