NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia – Runners, take your marks: The One City Marathon returns to Newport News in 2022 for a weekend event.
According to City of Newport News, the Newport News One City 2022 Marathon will host races, celebrations and in-person activities on March 5 and 6, 2022. Last year’s event took place virtually due to the pandemic.
The Race Weekend kicks off on Saturday March 5 with the new Maritime 5K Race and Nautical Mile Fun Run taking place at the Newport News City Center. Family activities and entertainment will be offered throughout the day.
A half marathon, relay marathon and One City Marathon will take place on Sunday, March 6, starting at Newport News Park and taking runners on a flat, fast course through historic city streets.
The weekend will end with a celebration in the city’s Yard district. The whole community is invited to 23rd Street to greet the runners and enjoy the food, drinks, activities and vendors.
