Guidelines

The following guidelines can help you organize interviews, video sessions, or photo ops:

  • Call the public affairs office to arrange all interviews with staff in the Northern California health care system. We will get back to you as soon as possible. (Patients seeking medical advice should contact their health care provider or dial 911 for medical emergencies.)
  • Advance notice of on-site interviews is required. Public Affairs staff need as much notice as possible to arrange subject matter experts, locations for media interviews, or photo ops for your story.
  • Public Affairs staff should accompany all film crews and photographers on campus. Our top priority is patient privacy and compliance with HIPAA regulations. We also want to make sure you get the information you’re looking for, coordinate filming locations, and keep interviews running smoothly.

If you are a student working on a research paper and looking to interview a veteran about their military experience, we encourage you to contact a veteran services organization for assistance. You can find a complete list at https://www.va.gov/vso/. The public affairs office has no staff to support research for students.
