A freshman from Williamsburg Independent High School won seven awards at the Kentucky State Fair.

Chelsie Adkins won four blue ribbons, two red ribbons and one white ribbon at the Kentucky State Fair for her photography.

This is not the first time that Adkins has brought back ribbons from the fair. His photos for the first time at the fair’s competition date back to 2019. This year, his photos featured a variety of subjects, including animals, flowers and panoramic photos.

Adkins said all of his photos were taken while his family was on vacation.

With over 600 photos to choose from, Adkins said she selected photos to submit by simply browsing through the photos she took and selecting those that fall into different categories.

Adkins said she doesn’t remember her early days in photography, but she does recall receiving her first camera from her father.

Some of his favorite subjects include nature and animals, Adkins said. Her favorite photos, however, are the ones she took of the moon as she was able to capture the craters and the pinkish color.

Among the photos she entered, Adkins said her favorite photo was a picture of the word “haha” someone had written in concrete.

“I took a picture of it in the morning when the sun was casting shadows on it. I submitted it and it got a blue ribbon, ”Adkins said. “This is my favorite that I submitted.”

“We’re all very proud of her,” said Chasity Adkins, Chelsie’s mom. “She worked really hard to get these photos.”
