The director of Toi o Tāmaki at the Auckland Art Gallery Rhana Devenport will travel to Australia to take up the post of director at the Art Gallery of South Australia. After five years in the lead role, she leaves the gallery on September 21st.
While waiting for a thrilling new challenge across the Tasman, Devenport says she remains "a strong and durable advocate" for Auckland Art Gallery.
"I have great confidence and deep admiration for the Gallery, its people, its heritage, its collections and its positive cultural impact on Aotearoa in New Zealand." I learned a lot during these five years and i have been impressed every day by the incredible professionalism and commitment of my team.
"i am proud of what i have accomplished during this time and I enjoyed doing what I believe. "
According to Chris Brooks, CEO of RFA, its impact has been significant on both the strategic direction of the Museum and its staff and stakeholders.

"In addition to leaving the Museum with positive relationships with local stakeholders, it has expanded the international reach.
Brooks cites the highly successful Gottfried Lindauer exhibits presented in Berlin, Pilsen and San Francisco, and the partnership of the Gallery with Creative New Zealand to present the official New Zealand Pavilion at the 2017 Arte Biennale in Venice.
