More than one million people visited the South Australian Art Gallery and its associated exhibits over the past year while its newest paintings show Impressionists in Paris also blitzed attendance records
Sunday after four months and drew 159,442 visitors, passing the gallery's previous record for a show – set by The Chinese Exposition in 1977 – by about 35,000 people.
It also attracted more than 35,000 visitors from outside the SA, had an unprecedented demand for school visits with 14,385 students and educators, and spurred a 40% increase in subscriptions to the Gallery during the season. blockbusters.
