Shannon was performing at the Duck Creek Picnic Races in Nyngan, NSW on the weekend, when a nasty spectator threw a can to him full of beer
The box was missing, but Shannon was naturally shaken. The riddled rant of explosions that followed, however, saw him slam by fans and the media, with writer Matilda Dixon – Smith condemning his "vile display of machismo" on The Project last night.
Shannon's rant saw him threatening violence towards an offending member of the public, as well as offering to pay someone to punch him:
"Whoever Throw this, come here … Come on, this f *** head in the tie. You're a maggot f *** ing.have f *** ing balls coming here … cheap spades
"Shame on that motherf *** er there. F *** ing private school stupid f *** head motherf *** er. Take a few balls and get up and I'll bite your teeth in the throat … so I'm going to fuck your mother and your mother.
"All the others, other than that f *** stick, sing along this song, ok, here we go … I'm going to give someone a 100 bucks to give him a boost." 19659006] "Enough with enemies, f *** enemies.
His language was radically different when he published the following excuses on Facebook the next day:
"I would like to apologize for my behavior and my language during the Duck Picnic Races Creek, Saturday night.
"During our set, there were people in the audience throwing cans and bottles on the stage and after a guy threw a full can, my head really rattled. .. We had a similar problem last year with a firecracker on the scene and one of my band members was seriously injured … you do not have a lot of deep vision in the crowd since the scene and it's pretty scary to see something suddenly flying towards you.these actions are not acceptable.
"I fully understand that this is still not an excuse for how I'm going I spoke and I am deeply sorry for the terrible things that I said that were purely frustrating. "
