Nearly 500,000 Kiwis turn on their televisions to watch the long awaited supernatural policeman Wellington Paranormal during his first screening night.
Social media buzzed with excitement at the new program of the New Zealand Documentary Board (composed of three members, Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi and Paul Yates). On Twitter, the Wellington Paranormal hashtag was the second most talked about topic in NZ's Twitterverse.
According to TVNZ figures, it was the most-watched television show on Wednesday night on all demographics. His first episode reached 484,400 viewers with an average audience of 265,800.
Cheer up mates, Wellington Paranormal was great with NZ viewers.
In just 24 hours, 24,000 people streamed the first episode of the six documentary series on their TVNZ OnDemand application

Here is a glimpse of those jokes that might have been a little too Wellington-centered, or that have "no worldly explanation" for non-capitalist residents.
The reference to the Hataitai pub The Realm seems to have a lot of fans of the stitches. Hataitai is a suburb of Wellington, and its local pub is called The Realm. He has served Hataitai residents since the 1930s, according to his website.
It was mentioned during the first scene when the Minogue officer clarified with the green spitting demon on Wellington's iconic Cuba Street if she was from the unholy kingdom at Hataitai.
