Rhys Darby plays the villain in the new Ninja Turtles

New Zealand comedian Rhys Darby has been announced as the voice of the hippo super villain in the new cartoon series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer was shown at Comic-Con. The series sees Raph, Leo, Donnie and Mikey discover new powers and meet a mystical world they did not know existed under the streets of New York.

Darby will speak of Hypno-Potamus, a mutant magician / hippopotamus.

Darby tells Collider that when he was a kid, he went home to see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The series will see Raph Voice by Omar Miler, Leo voiced by Ben Schwartz, Donnie voiced by Josh Brener, Mikey voiced by Brandon Mychal Smith, April O Neil expressed by Kat Graham, Splinter voiced by Eric Bauza and Baron Draxum voiced by John Cena.

show will be launched on Nickelodeon later this year.
