Vancouver comedian Ivan Decker will play one of 47 half-hour comedies that will be released by Netflix in 2019.
Produced by the streaming service under the name The Comedy Club The programs will feature comedians from around the world and 32 of them will be filmed at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, as well as at events in cities like Mumbai, Amsterdam and Berlin this summer.
Decker has achieved a lot in his career over the past decade. More recently, his album, I Wanted to be a Dinosaur won a Juno Award for the comic album of the year. He also made his American television debut on Conan in 2017.
Other Canadian comedians who were selected for The Comedy Club are DeAnne Smith, Dave Merheje, K. Trevor Wilson, Francois Bellefeuille, Louis-Jose Houde, Adib Alkhalideu, Katherine Levac and Shirley Souagnon
Comics from New Zealand, the Middle East, South Africa, the United States United and France will also be part of the series. The specials will be filmed in seven languages, including English, French and Arabic.
Russell Peters and Norm Macdonald are the only other cancan comedians who have visited the Netflix platform. Although The Comedy Club is not composed of one-hour specials like those of Peters and Macdonald, this could be the beginning of a career of Canadian comedians receiving more of recognition and long tournaments in the future. 19659002] No official date has been set for the release of The Comedy Club but be on the lookout for them on Netflix in 2019.
