NFL Draft Analyst Brian Baldinger says Trevor Lawrence ‘broke up’ in discussion with quarterback

Talk to any NFL draftnik and they’ll tell you Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is hands down the No.1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

NFL Network analyst and former NFL offensive lineman Brian Baldinger isn’t about to try to change anyone’s opinion.

“If you just watch him for three seasons, he’s been the most dominant college football player for three straight years,” Baldinger said in an interview with Fox News.

In the last of those three seasons, Lawrence threw 3,153 passing yards to go with 24 touchdowns and just five interceptions in 2020, leading the Tigers to a 9-0 record.

Clemson reached the semifinals of the college football playoffs in a matchup against Ohio State, but the Buckeyes earned a 49-28 victory ending Lawrence’s college career. Still, Baldinger says you must be in awe of his performance.

“If you watch him in all the big games, whether it’s Alabama, Ohio, whoever it is. He’s played against NFL players,” Baldinger says.

Baldinger, who played the offensive line in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles in the ’80s and early’ 90s, began his broadcasting career in 1997. He is analyst for NFL Network and is credited with dissecting gaming films that he regularly posts on his social media accounts, known as “Baldy breakdowns. “

It was through these “Breakdowns” that the Duke graduate learned to watch the tape. And when it comes to Lawrence, on tape, Baldinger says it’s all there.

“There are just a lot of good records on him. I like quarterbacks that have played a lot of games, and he has a lot of big games under his belt,” Baldinger said, “I think Trevor Lawrence has split in that quarterback discussion. And then I think there are four other guys. “

In addition to being busy with his preparations and analysis for the NFL Draft, Baldinger has also affiliated with CoachTube.com, a site that is an online portal for training athletes and coaches. He offers several courses on CoachTube, including an offensive line seminar with former NFL coach Bob Wylie as well as other groups of positions such as wide catcher and tight end.

Baldinger, no wallflower in his NFL analysis, makes a bold prediction for Lawrence and his NFL career.

“I think he’s the closest thing to a Hall of Famer worthy quarterback since Andrew Luck,” Baldinger said. “We’ve seen a lot of guys take the lead in the draft, but I think he’s the best we’ve seen come out since that time. And if you go back, and look at John Elway and Peyton Manning, they were the best high school players in the country when they came out of their respective regions, like Trevor Lawrence. And they’ve all played a lot of games at Stanford and Tennessee, and that’s with Trevor. He’s on the same path. . I think that’s what we’re looking for. “
