From now on, Pro Bowl linebacker Bradley Chubb will be on the field for the Broncos at MetLife Stadium. But that was in doubt for a while on Tuesday.
Mike Klis of 9News reports that Chubb “was arrested on Tuesday on a non-appearance warrant resulting from traffic violations.”
Chubb was charged on May 6 with duress driving and also expiring his license plates for more than 60 days. He was scheduled to appear in Arapahoe County Court on August 6. When he failed to appear, a warrant was issued for failure to appear.
ESPN reports “Sgt. Jeff Miller of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Chubb was arrested late Tuesday morning for a “minor traffic violation” and that after the warrant was discovered, Chubb was held in the county detention center of Douglas until Tuesday afternoon when Chubb posted “a small bond”.
Klis reports that the Broncos released a statement on Chubb: “We are aware of the matter, which related to an unresolved traffic issue which has now been resolved.”
Per Klis, “Broncos head coach Vic Fangio said he believes Chubb will be able to play the Broncos’ regular season opener on Sunday against the New York Giants in New Jersey. . “

Chubb is a key cog in the Broncos’ pass race. He had 7.5 sacks last season, but as a rookie in 2018 he set a career high with 12 sacks. Chubb was taken out of training last week and returned on Monday as the 25-year-old recovers from ankle surgery he suffered in May.
The Broncos and Giants are set for a Week 1 kickoff Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. Five days later, the Giants will visit the Washington football team for a prime-time NFC East showdown in the second week of Thursday night.
