Niantic CEO shares insight into potential AR glasses

[ad_1]

Niantic is a company that has developed and mastered the idea of AR (augmented reality) gaming on smart devices with Entrance, but the title that propelled the company to stratospheric heights was undoubtedly Pokémon Go. It went viral in the summer of 2016 and is still running today, while the company has also produced Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

Of course, recent Niantic titles revolve around his Pikmin app, which could not only be quite fun, but also give Nintendo’s IP a boost. The company’s success has also allowed it to expand into new territories, and CEO John Hanke shared one of those ideas on Twitter this week in the form of AR glasses.

It’s not a new idea, although the technology may now catch up with the concept in time for Niantic to make it a success. As you can see from the teaser image, the specs apparently have a small speaker and some sort of adjustable strap so they can fit anyone.

This is certainly a logical step for the high-end and avid AR gaming marketplace, the question will be to what extent these glasses would be marketable and technically possible.

Is this an idea that turns you on or makes you roll your eyes? Take a look at the comments section and let us know.
