Ministry of Health officials said the two people had received "injection-related procedures" at the spa between May and September of last year.

"With more than 100 Spa VIP clients already tested, NMDOH ensures that testing and counseling services are available to people who have received injection-related services at the VIP Spa," said Kathy Kunkel, secretary of the clinic. NMDOH cabinet. "Screening is important for everyone because there are effective treatments for HIV and many infections with hepatitis."

The downtown spa was closed in 2018 after an inspection revealed that some spa practices could spread infectious diseases. The Health Department proceeded with the inspection after learning that a spa client had developed an infection that may have resulted from the procedure.

The procedure in question was the "vampire facial treatment", a treatment that injects the blood of a person into his face to improve the health of his skin.

Free and confidential tests are available for all VIP spa alumni.
