Nokia says its new XR20 smartphone is ‘life-proof’

Nokia’s parent company HMD Global has announced a huge overhaul of the Nokia phone earlier this year, and now the company has officially announced that the first Nokia of the X series the phone is come to the United States next month.

The $ 550 XR20, which launches on August 24, is the most expensive phone in Nokia’s updated portfolio. Nokia says the XR20, which has solid specs and potentially better durability than other mid-range handsets, is the company’s first “life-proof” phone.

HMD / Nokia posted a teaser on Twitter last week that hints that the XR20 is an attempt to live up to the legendary durability offered by older Nokia phones.

The XR20 has a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus filter, which is said to be four times more scratch-durable than a typical smartphone screen, and a body that HMD says can withstand drops up to six feet without a case.

HMD too claims the XR20 has been tested to operate in temperatures as high as 131 degrees Fahrenheit or as low as -4 degrees, with water resistance capable of withstanding submersions of up to five feet for an hour. In one shot to prove how tough the XR20 is, Nokia / HMD gave the phone to famous football players Roberto Carlos and Lisa Zimouche to kick, kick and flip the phone on various surfaces and conditions.

TThe XR20 features a 6.67-inch 2400 x 1080 display powered by a 5G Snapdragon 480 chip with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a built-in microSD card.parcel. For cameras you get an 8 MP hole punch selfie camera on the front and main camera from 48 MP and an ultra-wide camera from 13 MP on the rear. Like all cheap and mid-range phones, the XR20 also has a USB-C port for charging and a 3.5mm jack for wired audio, plus 15 watt Qi wireless charging and a 4,630 mAh battery. The Nokia XR20 will be available in two colors (Ultra Blue and Granite Gray) when it arrives next month.
