NOPD investigates homicide in the first district

The NOPD is investigating today (October 8, 2021) a homicide in the 1100 block of North Claiborne Avenue that left one dead.

At approximately 11:12 a.m., NOPD was first informed of an aggravated battery while shooting at the location. Upon arrival, District 1 officers located a male subject inside an automobile with one or more gunshot wounds. The victim was declared dead on the spot.

Investigators are currently gathering evidence and information to identify the person (s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No further details are available at this time.

The OrlĂ©ans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and the official cause of death once the autopsy has been completed and the family notified.
