An epidemic of norovirus was reported Saturday in a children's hospital in Washington after three patients tested positive for the contagious virus, health officials said.
The outbreak began on the second floor of the pediatric center of the Hospital for Sick Children (HSC), reported FOX5DC. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention consider an outbreak of norovirus when two or more patients contract the virus.
"Additional patients have been tested and no new infections have been identified in the last 48 hours. All patients are monitored for signs and symptoms of subsequent infection, "said the hospital in a statement released Saturday.

Symptoms of norovirus include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever and malaise.
Hospital staff said he was working with the health officials of the DC to prevent the spread of the virus. A memo was also sent stating that workers with symptoms of norovirus should stay at home for 48 hours.
