More and more Norwegians want to buy a holiday home abroad. In two years, triple demand, Skriver Finansavisen
(Real estate news): There are currently about 90,000 Norwegian households who report owning a home abroad, according to the forecasting center.
Partner Bjørn-Erik Øye of the Prognosis Center tells Finansavisen that, for the first time, the interest of buying housing abroad exceeded the demand in Norway.
The increase in demand really began in the spring of 2016, says Øye. Rigid prices in the Norwegian archipelago are pulled as a cause.
– At that time, 0.9% said that they had been thinking of buying something abroad for three years. Now, in the spring of 2018, it's 3.4%. It's about the same as 80,000 households. It costs three times more to buy a holiday home abroad than two years ago, he told the newspaper.
He is backed by the CEO of Agnar D. Carlsen of Norsk Megling International, who says that the difference from last year is excellent. Among Carlsen's customers, approximately 60% of the property is purchased in Spain. He believes that the real estate market in southern Europe has generally risen again.
– Prices are rising after the financial crisis. Especially in Spain, but also in France and Italy, he says.
