"Can be killed"

– The fate of Asia depends on the ability and willingness of the state to take care of it. I do not realize that she can be killed while in detention. Bibi must be protected himself in prison, "said Ed Brown, Secretary General of the Mission and Human Rights Organization, Stefan Alliance.

The Stefan Alliance has been helping Bibi and her family for a number of years with a political appeal and financial support.

"I never doubted that she would be fired, I do not know anyone in Pakistan who was executed for blasphemy, but many were killed along the way in the case of bullying," Brown said. VG.

Of the 1300 blasphemers in Pakistan in the last 30 years, 60 people were killed before the case was resolved.

The Bible has already killed two people: Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer was killed in January 2011 by his own bodyguard and Christian minority minister Shahbaz Bhatti was shot dead two months later later. Both had the support of Bibi and opposed Pakistan's blasphemy law (see box).

Supporter: Bibi fight mentally

Pakistani Sajid Christopher Paul, leader of the Human Friends Organization and one of Asia Bibi's leading supporters, has visited Bibi's family and his lawyer on several occasions. The latter escaped from Pakistan after the liberation of the country, threatened with death.

"I spoke to her husband on the phone yesterday. They are scared. They want to leave Pakistan to live a happy and safe life, but for the moment they have to hide and do not want to go anywhere without Bibi, says Paul to VG.

– How is the status of Asia Bibi?

"Physically, she's in good health, but mentally she's not doing well, and we've been wondering for nine years whether the death penalty will be applied, whether she'll spend the rest of her life in jail or whether she'll be released."

Paul is convinced that the faction will last.

– I am sure that the revision of the verdict will be in his favor. The counterparty has not submitted evidence in the last nine years. How will she finish it now?

This can happen with Asia Bibi

What will happen to Asia Bibi? Ed Brown, in the Stefanus alliance, presents two possible scenarios:

  1. The authorities are canceling the ban on traveling and driving her out of the country. The family has already applied for asylum in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. "But the situation is too embarrassing for it to be possible now," Brown said.
  2. The authorities conclude a compromise in which they maintain the release, but also the ban on traveling. Bibi will then be released in Pakistan and the risk will be great to be killed by extremists.

"The horror scenario is that violence is fading, society is paralyzed and the Christian minority is more under attack," Brown said.

The Islamist TLP party threatened new protests if the verdict was made.
