"Both parties to the conflict have long believed that a military solution is possible, which has had catastrophic consequences for the population. For the first time, this seems to be a window in which both parties can be encouraged to to sit down at the negotiating table, end the violence and find a political solution, which will be the only long-term way out of the disaster, "Hunt said.
The minister adds that the United Kingdom "will use all its influence to promote such a solution". He also said that there was "a small but real chance that a suspension of the fighting could help alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people".
