WASHINGTON (Nettavisen): For an outside observer, it is amazing how much media attention in the United States has been focused on the refugee caravan that is currently crossing Mexico.

All the major media have been filled with constant updates on the path traveled by the caravan and the number of soldiers currently in place at the border.

Incredible because the caravan is now completely harmless. If there were initially terrorists or potential terrorists hiding among the refugees, it is obvious that they are now doomed.

And with 5,000 additional troops at the border, and with the focus that has been put in place, should they be fully aware that they are now trying to go unnoticed on the other side of the border?

But Trump knows what he's doing. He probably did that with the very featured video that was stopped by several major television channels yesterday, including Trumps' main ally, Fox News.

Among other things, the video is centered on a deadly murderer from Mexico, who has absolutely nothing to do with the caravan.

But when Trump is asked to comment on the TV stations' claims that the video is racist and gives rise to baseless fear, he said last night that the video was "effective".

It was also very clear after hearing that Republican speakers in the House of Representatives, Paul Ryan, had asked him to talk instead about the flourishing economy rather than fearing unilaterally.

But talking about positive things is boring, according to Trump.

Then I take an important reservation in my own name that Donald Trump is a genius:

He is brilliant in the sense that he applies his own strategy and makes all the media dance after his own pipe. If the strategy still works, it remains to be seen.

I wrote yesterday that many members of the Republican Party are afraid that people will get bored and that exaggeration and hateful rhetoric will not turn against themselves.

Whoever succeeds, we will not know until the closing of the last polls on the west coast late tonight, Norwegian time.
