Opposition claims to have won in Zimbabwe

. before the election, Chamisa and the ZANU-PF party candidate, interim president Emmerson Mnangagwa, would have agreed among themselves.

If none of them gets more than 50% of the votes, a second election will be held on September 8th.

Mnangagwa was captured as president when Mugabe was stolen in a military coup last November. The 75-year-old man has promised to strengthen the country's shocking economy and improve even more shocked relations with the West.

– We have opened Zimbabwe to investors and we are entering a new era with a Zimbabwe which our children will be proud of when it has rounded up the election campaign.

Detained and demolished

The judge and pastor Chamisa, with his 40 years, is old enough to be president but not new to politics.

In the 1990s, he enlisted as a student politician, and for many years he was often responsible for protests against Mugabe. He led to more prisons, and in 2007 he was beaten by Mugabe supporters at Harare airport when he attempted to fly to Belgium.

Pre-election polls showed that Chamisa received the most support in the country's cities, while the Mnangagwa government party enjoyed the most support in rural areas.

The official assessment to find out if the election was held according to the rules and can therefore be recognized as a free democratic choice, expected in a few days. Just over 5.6 million out of a total of 16.2 million Zimbabweans were eligible to vote, with 210 new members elected to the country's parliament.

The National Electoral Commission promised final results by Saturday.
