In total, 351 people died in violent riots that took place in Nicaragua in the last three months, according to ANPDH.

In addition, more than 2,100 people were injured, 329 kidnapped and 68 tortured as a result of demonstrations against the government claims the Nicaraguan organization.

Of the victims, 306 are civilians, 28 members of paramilitary groups, 16 police officers and a government soldier, according to the ANPDH. Other organizations operate with other deaths, usually around 220.

The government, for its part, still denies that more than 50 people were killed in clashes that lasted for about three months. Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada explains the difference that "terrorist groups are trying to cover the country's legally elected government."

Dissatisfaction with President Daniel Ortega and his wife, Vice President Rosario Murillo, has long pounded in Nicaragua. Ortega announced in April a pension reform that would mean a 5% reduction in pensions and an increase in income taxes.

Ortega then elaborated the reforms, but protests continue and the presidential party is accused of being authoritarian. He previously rejected this week 's opposition request to speed up the presidential elections from 2021 to March next year.
