The fighting in Hodeida, Yemen, is raging near a hospital where there are 59 children, nearly half of whom are undergoing intensive treatment. They are in danger of death, according to the UN.

"The intense fighting in the Yemeni city of Hodeida is now dangerous near the Al-Thawra hospital, which means that 59 children, including 25 receiving intensive care, are at risk of dying," said the United Nations Fund on Tuesday. United for Children, UNICEF.

"Access to and from the hospital, the only thing that works in the region is now threatened," writes UNICEF.

Hundreds of thousands of residents risk being caught in the fighting.

"The deaths will be catastrophic if the port is injured, destroyed or blocked," said the organization.

Houthiene took control of both Sana and Hodeida, the capital of Jemen, in 2014. Today, the port city is one of the last woods fired on the west coast of the country.

A Saudi coalition, including the United Arab Emirates, went to war against the government in 2015. This coalition is accused of being responsible for most civilian casualties during the war.
