Last week, CNN greeted a nurse who claimed in a Twitter thread that conservatives with COVID-19, which she claimed to treat, denied the existence of the disease until their last breath. An investigation by Scott Hounsell of RedState, however, suggests the nurse has embellished his claims.
Amanda Prestigiacomo of the Daily Wire reported on Monday that CNN welcomed RN Jodi Doering to claim that her conservative patients “don’t want to believe COVID is real”, adding that this belief did not come from a “particular patient, it’s just a culmination of so many people.

In his Twitter thread, Doering said, “The ones that stand out are the ones who still don’t believe the virus is real. After Doering’s appearance on CNN, which led many to question the validity of his claims and at the very least suggest that CNN did absolutely no verification before inviting him to speak, RedState’s Hounsell took a look. South Dakota coronavirus figures and found Doering’s claims to be far-fetched. .
“Nurse Doering, a Marquette graduate and certified nurse practitioner (CNP), lives in a small town called Woonsocket, in Sanborn County. Sanborn County has had only one COVID-19-related death since the start of the pandemic, according to the South Dakota COVID-19 statistics website, which provides data from all regions and counties in the South Dakota, and USFacts.org. This death occurred in October, ”Hounsell reported.
Hounsell spoke to the marketing manager at Huron Regional Medical Center, where Doering “sometimes worked on the hospital’s COVID-19 unit.” This person told Hounsell that only six people had died from COVID-19 during the entire outbreak, while 22 had died in Beadle County where the hospital is located. HRMC currently has six non-critical patients for COVID-19, including only one in the intensive care unit and none on ventilators, according to the South Dakota COVID-19 statistics website.
“Of the six identified deaths, RedState was able to determine that one was the tragic case of a 21-year-old mother of three who died in May. Without revealing the identity of the mother, RedState determined that she was probably not a patient who denied the existence of the virus. That leaves us with five patients who have died in hospital since the start of the epidemic, whom we have not been able to identify. RedState was unable to determine whether or not Doering was working at the time of one of the deaths. She could have been there for all five, or there for none of them. The story Doering seemed to weave is not supported by the facts, ”Hounsell reported.
Hounsell further noted that Doering gave the impression that she regularly faced angry conservative patients dying from COVID-19, but hospital statistics show that cannot be the case.
