NYPD police officer shot dead and suspect killed in Staten Island

An NYPD officer was shot in the hand and a suspect was killed in Staten Island on Tuesday morning, a senior police source told The Post.

The policewoman – who was touched in her left hand at 20 Prince Street – was taken in a patrol car to the Richmond University Medical Center and should be fine, the source said.

The mayor of Blasio went to the hospital.

The shooting occurred at approximately 8:45 am in the Stapleton section of Staten Island.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on the unidentified man, who was transported to the north hospital of the University of Staten Island, where he was pronounced dead.

"Due to police activities, we must expect road closures and a strong presence of emergency personnel in the neighborhoods of Prince Street and Hardy Street in Staten Island," according to the system. Notify NYC of the city. "Please avoid the area and consider other routes."
