After finishing their first round of OTA last week, the Philadelphia Eagles were back on training grounds Tuesday again in front of the media. Here is what I saw:
• Carson Wentz is no different from what it normally does in practice, which is another way of saying that it looked really good. The obvious thing that stood out was how many times he was able to connect with DeSean Jackson. It's as if Wentz was doing his best to try to bond with Jackson, and until then everything is fine in this regard.
Although they do not connect on any road to go, Wentz was able to find Jackson on a variety of roads breaking and out of lane. Because opposing defenses must respect Jackson's top speed, these 10 to 15 meter entry and exit routes can be thieving chain thieves.
Wentz found Jackson a bit further down the field on a bang-8 road leading to a TD, and they also logged in for a TD (I did not see the road) inside of the red zone.
• The Wentz Day Throw is questionable. There were a few to choose from. A beauty was a tactile touch at about 20-25 yards on the sideline at Zach Ertz more than L.J. Fort. Another was a red zone back shoulder fade that J.J. Arcega-Whiteside snatched from the sky on Sidney Jones for a TD. If Wentz and Arcega-Whiteside can master the timing of this route, it will be very difficult to stop. Jones' coverage of the game was not even bad. The placement of the ball was perfect for a guy who knows how to make contested shots in the end zone.
"When you have the body control and concentration that it has in addition to size and length, this usually translates (at the NFL level)," said Mike Groh about Arcega-Whiteside. "You can say that if someone is next to him, he will probably be able to capture, I think it has been demonstrated, he made very good catches early in the time he was here, and I think he's only going to get better now that he's playing football all the time. "
• Nelson Agholor also made a large number of catches working in the middle of the defense. Agholor came to camp this year torn upand he looked well through the first two practices. He tried to assume a leadership role, while trying to give pointers to some of the recipients of the UDFA after their representatives.
I will also note quickly that Wentz and Agholor have their own handshake this season. First, they hit their hands and do some jazz, as shown in Chappelle's "Racial Draft" show:
• Wendell Smallwood had two drops today. I mention this only because the Eagles thought that he would be a good receiver in the NFL despite the lack of receiving volume at the University of West Virginia. It obviously did not become that, while Corey Clement, who had a similar lack of production at the University of Wisconsin, showed he could be a receiving weapon in the Eagles' Super Bowl season in 2017.
Groh noted today that Miles Sanders had good ball skills.
"We think that he is a versatile player and that he has very good ball skills and that he can catch the ball out of the backfield," said Groh, evoking a bigger response. long about Sanders.
Like Smallwood and Clement, Sanders did not have much production in the Penn State pass game. We'll see soon if he looks more like Smallwood or Clement.

• Speaking of the two who catch the ball out of the backfield, the Eagles think that Jordan Howard is better for people to give him credit. Today, he captured a swing pass while participating in a full sprint. That does not make it exactly Marshall Faulkbut that's all they need, and he seemed comfortable catching the ball on his travels.
• Defensively, Kamu Grigier-Hill had a good day. He took off Clayton Thorson 7-on-7, and had a nice pass separation in the end zone while covering Dallas Goedert.
• Receiver six feet by six wide Carlton Agudosi is a cold stone lock to be the favorite of training camp fans this year, in the tradition of big receivers, Ifeanyi Momah, and others. Agudosi has legitimately played a good game when he beat Avonte Maddox and Rasul Douglas on a deep ball. In a few months, I look forward to a national journalist going to the Eagles camp for a day and wondering why no one is talking about him.
• The offensive line of the Eagles' third team has had three consecutive matches today. In the first play, the center slammed the ball too early and the game was whistled. On the next two games, they had false starts. Favorite of the day: If the offensive line of the Eagles' third team was to face the 1985 Bears in a match today, I think she might be in trouble.
