Ocasio-Cortez about Mike Lee: "If this guy can be a senator, you can do anything"

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez addressed Senator Mike Lee on Tuesday after criticizing the Green New Deal.

The New York Democrat, the main sponsor of the Green New Deal in the House, tweeted in response to a screenshot of Utah's Republican lawmaker while he was speaking in front of the Senate.

"Like many other active women, I sometimes suffer from the impostor syndrome: these little moments, especially during difficult days, where one wonders if the enemies are right, has she writes. "But then they do things like this to clear things up."

the tweet she responded to showing a picture of Lee smiling as he stood next to a large poster of several babies. He also quoted some of his remarks before giving up his time.

"The solution to climate change is not this unserious resolution we are considering this week in the Senate," Lee said. "But rather the serious issue of human fulfillment.The solution to so many problems, at all times and in all places must fall in love, get married and have children."

Throughout his remarks, Lee called the Green New Deal "ridiculous" and featured images of dinosaurs and cartoon characters, in addition to babies. He said that he was treating the plan "with the seriousness it deserves".

The Green New Deal faced difficulties in the Senate Tuesday, having failed to gather the 60 votes needed to begin the debate on the non-binding resolution.

No senator voted to begin the debate on the bill, while 57 legislators voted against filibuster breakage. 42 Democrats and Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Voted "present".
