Democratic Congressman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tactfully defended Congressman Rashida Tlaib's accusation that Trump's family friend Lynne Patton was reportedly used as a racist "support" during the congressional hearing in front of Michael Cohen.

"The total bravery of @RashidaTlaib because it reminds the nation that symbolism * is * of * racism," said Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Thursday.

At the Michael Cohen hearing on Wednesday, Republican Senator Mark Meadows of North Carolina introduced Patton as a friend of the Trump family to respond to Cohen's accusations that President Trump was a racist.

Subsequently, Tlaib, D-Mich., Accused Meadows of using Patton as an "accessory" and suggested that it was a "racist act".

"Just to make a note, Mr. Speaker, just because someone of color, a black person working for her does not mean that she is not racist, does not mean that some people do it. . In fact, using an accessory, a black woman, in this assembly, in this committee is only racist in itself, "said Tlaib.

Meadows was the exception and asked Elijah Cummings, D-Md., Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, to withdraw her comments from the record.

Cummings, who is African-American, called Meadows a "best friend" and explained the situation after asking Tlaib to clarify his words.

Tlaib stated that she did not call Meadows Racist.

Meadows told Laura Ingraham on Thursday night about Fox's "The Ingraham Angle" that after the hearing, he offered Tlaib a "hand of friendship."

"She kissed me, and we certainly considered going forward," Meadows said.

Tlaib, Thursday on CNN, doubled her comments, again claiming that "it was a racist act" and that she was using it as a learning time.

She also pointed out that she was "rather direct" and would have called Meadows racist if she had really felt it.

"I think if we want to talk about race in this country, it's not the right way to do it," said Tlaib.

She also spoke to Patton, who denied being used as an "accessory", saying she meant "do not miss anything".
