Over the past year and a half, hospital staff across the country have been strained. They had to deal with COVID-19 cases along with their usual loads as emergency rooms and intensive care units became overwhelmed in addition to being understaffed. It has been a difficult time for everyone, but especially for the frontline workers in the hospitals.
The Oktibbeha County Hospital Regional Medical Center is no exception, and just as they thought they had come out of the woods and could breathe a sigh of relief, the Delta variant of Covid has hit Mississippi.
However, throughout the ongoing pandemic, all LCO and medical workers in Starkville and Oktibbeha County have enjoyed tremendous community support. With this current wave of Covid, various members of the community have asked OCH how to help.
On August 26, Lauren Gardner, Director of Volunteer Services at LCO, created an Amazon Wish List of nurses, lab technicians, doctors and more who have contributed every day since then to her office which is shared with Mary Kathryn Kight, the director. marketing and public relations, was filled with snacks and other items to help front-line workers get through the day.
