Of all Kyrie Irving's wacky quotes, this could be the worst | Boston Celtics

Kyrie Irving talked a lot (like, a lot) of stupid things when he feels after a Boston Celtics victory.

What he said Saturday night at Staples Center could however be the most stupid.

Irving dominated the Los Angeles Lakers, scoring 30 points in the Boston Celtics 120-107 win. After the match, ESPN's Lisa Salter interviewed the star on the now famous California flight – you know, the one where Celtics players would have linked up as a team.

Alas, apparently, the key to everything was Irving, who is the messiah, alpha and omega of the Celtics.

"I myself have been coaching in the plane," Irving told Salters. "I helped Brad, I helped Coach with a little coaching."

Good sorrow

It seemed that Irving realized that he had said something deeply egocentric. So, he changed course and spoke in more general terms.

"But, more or less, we're just taking back our spirit, our energy," Irving said. "I think the rigors of the NBA season can touch you a bit. I know that I myself have been very frustrated.

Look, maybe Irving really got Stevens involved during the flight. But even if he did, it was something that probably should have stayed at home.

Be that as it may, the Celtics are 3-0 while on the West Coast and will be looking to close the California swing Monday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
