The Buckeyes sit atop the Big Ten.

After two huge wins over previously undefeated Michigan and Maryland, the Ohio State women’s basketball team now leads the Big Ten standings.

The Buckeyes handed the Wolverines their first loss of the season on Thursday, beating rivals 81-77 despite a program record of 50 points from Michigan forward Naz Hillmon.

Ohio State followed the win with another impressive win on Monday night, beating No.7 Maryland 88-86 to take the top spot in the Big Ten and give the Terrapins their first loss of the season.

With the two wins, the Buckeyes are now 9-1 on the season with the only road loss to Nebraska last week. The impressive start to the season was a team effort with five players averaging double digits over the season.

Ohio State is led offensively by guard Jacy Sheldon, who is averaging 17.7 points per game. Sheldon is followed not far behind by forward Dorka Juhasz, who averages a double-double over the season with 16.3 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Madison Green, Aaliyah Patty and Braxtin Miller also both doubled on average, scoring 14.0, 11.9 and 10.6 points per game, respectively.

The Buckeyes won’t have much time to enjoy the win, however, as they will now face back-to-back road games against 16th Indiana and 23rd Northwestern, scoring four straight games against ranked opponents.
