The dramatic pop song had over 15.17 million streams globally on January 11, then broke its own record with over 17.01 million streams on January 12.

Becky Bass, head of Global Hits at Spotify, told Billboard that a number of factors contributed to the song’s rise.

“I really think it’s a perfect storm,” Bass said. “When we were talking about the audience that she had before the release – they’re a very young, female, engaged audience. So they really started the flame. But now what you have is that they’re traveling. way beyond that audience. And obviously social media platforms have helped, but I think word of mouth. It’s a song you guys are talking about with everyone right now.

The song, which was released on January 8, is Rodrigo’s first single.

Rodrigo also performs in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”.

Her previously released song “All I Want” is also in Spotify US Daily’s Top 40.
