HARRISVILLE A 70-year-old Alcona County man died before firefighters reached his burning house on Saturday, the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office said on Monday.

Responders dispatched to a burning house on McConnell Road in Gustin Township arrived and found the house completely burned down at around 8:15 p.m. A neighbor who had spotted the fire had pulled the resident out of the house, William Ullman, serious injuries in the fire. He died before help arrived, police said.

The fire is still under investigation by the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan State Police Fire Investigation Unit.
