Opportunities exist at the MakerFest career fair

LIMA – If you’re looking for a job, part of that search should include the MakerFest Career Fair, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 16 at the Apollo Career Center.

“We’re not just targeting high school graduates, but anyone in the public who is really looking to find a job or improve their existing job,” said Doug Olsson, president / CEO of Greater Lima Region Inc.

The event is sponsored by Greater Lima Region Inc., Ohio Means Jobs and Apollo Career Center.

“Ohio Means Jobs staff will be on hand to help attendees write their resumes, review some interview tips, and generally assist attendees. Companies will conduct on-site interviews for vacancies they have, ”Olsson said.

The job fair is part of MakerFest.

“MakerFest was originally designed several years ago to really show the community that we have world-class employers in this region, all in the spirit of helping the community realize that you can build a career. successful in this area. We all know the region has struggled with the young people leaving the area and MakerFest was designed to show not only the youngest but really everyone that there are world class employers right here in the region. greater Lima area, ”Olsson said.

Those looking for a job need to prepare and if they are not, help is available.

“They should be prepared to sit down with an employer, explore job opportunities, career opportunities. They should bring a resume if they have one. If they don’t have one, Ohio Means Jobs staff will be on hand to help them create one on site at the event. They should be prepared to explore employment opportunities with various employers, ”said Olsson.

There are many recognizable employers who will be at the MakerFest Career Fair.

“Procter and Gamble will be there. Nutrien will be there. The Lima Memorial and Saint Rita will be there. Crown gear will be there. We have over 50 of the region’s largest employers attending, ”said Olsson.
