IDAHO FALLS – The Eastern Idaho Public Health District Board of Health met on Thursday and determined that Fremont and Lemhi counties have met the metric to return to the minimum risk level in the plan. COVID-19 regional response. The metric was reached by having its rate of active cases below the threshold of 15 / 10,000 inhabitants for the most recent 14-day period.
Although the public health order for face masks has been repealed, this does not remove the need to make the necessary choices to slow the spread of the virus in our communities, as the virus is still circulating and poses a risk of disease, d hospitalization and death.
These choices include staying home when sick, washing your hands frequently, maintaining a space (at least 6 feet) between people, and, when you can’t get away, wearing a mask properly and consistently.
Vaccine administration continues to be successful in our health district. We are in the process of completing Priority Group 1, which includes healthcare providers and residents of long-term care facilities not affiliated with the Pharmacy Partnership for Long Term Care program. If you are a healthcare professional and have not had a chance to get the vaccine, please see our website for instructions on how to make an appointment. Proof of use is required before receiving the vaccine.
The Little government announced earlier this week the next priority group (2.1) for immunization, namely essential frontline workers and adults 65 and older. Critical frontline workers are categorized, in no hierarchical order, as follows:
• First responders
• Education: K-12 staff and teachers and daycare [childcare] workers
• Staff of correctional and detention facilities
Essential vaccinations for frontline workers began on January 12 and are coordinated by employers along with individual immunization appointments in our offices. Vaccination of the elderly is expected to begin in early February.
