An Oregon doctor who was against wearing masks has had his medical license revoked after his public refusal to recognize the coronavirus as anything other than the “common cold.”
Steven LaTulippe made headlines after attending the Stop the Steal rally in support of President Donald Trump in Salem, Oregon on November 7. During the rally, he called Covid-19 a “common cold” and said his staff did not wear masks for the duration of the pandemic.
“I want to expose what I call corona mania,” Dr. LaTulippe told the rally crowd in a video shared on YouTube by Republicans in Multnomah County.
“I want you to know that I never closed during the entire Covid season … I hate to tell you this, I might scare you, but me and my staff, neither of us wore masks in my clinic he said as the people at the rally cheered.
Dr LaTulippe owned a clinic near Portland and was attending the rally to talk about the “Covid myth,” according to NBC News.
Less than a month after the rally on Dec. 3, the Oregon Medical Council indefinitely suspended the man’s medical license for “engaging in unprofessional or dishonorable behavior.”
An investigation into the doctor’s practice found that a patient asked him in July if he should be tested for the coronavirus. Dr LaTulippe reportedly told the patient that asymptomatic people should not be tested or wear a mask as there was little evidence that this would prevent transmission of the new virus.
The medical board also found that staff at Dr LaTulippe’s clinic refused to wear masks and also encouraged patients to remove their masks. There were no coronavirus checkpoints at the entrance to the facility and no hand sanitizer, according to the online report.
This encouraged the medical council to vote Thursday night to revoke the doctor’s license.
The suspension was pronounced “due to the council’s concern for the safety and well-being of the licensee’s current and future patients,” the council said in a statement posted on its website.
Dr. LaTulippe will not be able to practice anywhere in the state of Oregon due to the suspension.
When previously speaking to NBC News, Dr LaTulippe claimed there was “bad science” behind health officials telling the public to wear a mask when interacting with people outside of their house. outbreak in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The CDC’s updated guidelines on Friday also implored national and local authorities to “issue policies or guidelines requiring the universal use of face masks in indoor (non-home) environments” – which was a stronger focus. of what the CDC previously advised.
