An 87-year-old man died Tuesday in St. Charles Bend; increased hospitalizations, less in ICU
PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) – The Oregon Health Authority reported a record 1,669 new confirmed and suspected COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the state total to 72,506.
COVID-19 has also killed 11 more people in Oregon, bringing the state’s death toll to 896, the OHA reported at 12:01 am Saturday.
This includes the 15th reported death from Deschutes County, an 87-year-old man who died Tuesday in St. Charles Bend, five days after testing positive for the virus.
The OHA had informed on Friday that a drop in the number of cases was due to the closure of several county health units for Thanksgiving and said that would likely lead to an unusually high number on Saturday.
The new confirmed and suspected COVID-19 cases reported on Saturday are in the following counties: Baker (6), Benton (17), Clackamas (164), Clatsop (8), Columbia (11), Coos (3), Crook ( 2), Curry (4), Deschutes (64), Douglas (10), Gilliam (1), Harney (3), Hood River (2), Jackson (124), Jefferson (6), Josephine (13), Klamath (84), Lake (7), Lane (49), Lincoln (3), Linn (9), Malheur (8), Marion (70), Morrow (3), Multnomah (701), Polk (45), Tillamook (3), Umatilla (24), Union (8), Wasco (5), Washington (164), Yamhill (48).
The 886th death from COVID-19 in Oregon is a 62-year-old woman in Douglas County who tested positive on November 16 and died on November 27 at Mercy Medical Center. The presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
The 887th death from COVID-19 in Oregon is a 96-year-old Jackson County woman who tested positive on November 9 and died on November 25 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. She had no underlying conditions.
The 888th death from COVID-19 in Oregon is a 62-year-old man in Lane County who tested positive on October 31 and died on November 23 at the PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center Riverbend. He had underlying conditions.
The 889th death from COVID-19 in Oregon is a 78-year-old man in Marion County who tested positive on Nov. 24 and died Nov. 25 in Salem Hospital. He had underlying conditions.
The 890th death from COVID-19 in Oregon is a 90-year-old woman in Marion County who tested positive on Nov. 16 and died Nov. 26 in Salem hospital. She had underlying conditions.
The 891st COVID-19 death in Oregon is an 89-year-old woman in Multnomah County who tested positive on November 21 and died on November 27 at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. She had underlying conditions.
The 892nd death from COVID-19 in Oregon is a 76-year-old man in Multnomah County who tested positive on November 16 and died on November 24 at his home. The presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.
The 893rd death from COVID-19 in Oregon is a 102-year-old woman in Union County who tested positive on November 11 and died on November 26 in Grande Ronde hospital. She had underlying conditions.
The 894th death from COVID-19 in Oregon is a 56-year-old man in Coos County who tested positive on October 26 and died on November 26 at Oregon Health & Science University. He had underlying conditions.
The 895th death from COVID-19 in Oregon is an 87-year-old man in Deschutes County who tested positive on November 19 and died on November 24 in St. Charles Bend. He had underlying conditions.
The 896th death from COVID-19 in Oregon is a 79-year-old Jackson County man who tested positive on October 10 and died on November 26 at his home. He had underlying conditions.

COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to increase
The number of COVID-19 hospital patients in Oregon has risen to 529, eight more than yesterday.
There are 106 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit (ICU) beds, nine fewer than yesterday.
