Oregon Health Authority reports 10 more deaths from COVID-19, 867 new cases

‘Technical problems’ reduced number of daily cases, agency says

PORTLAND, Oregon (KTVZ) – COVID-19 has killed 10 more in Oregon, bringing the state’s death toll to 1,568, the Oregon Health Authority reported Thursday.

The OHA also reported 867 new confirmed and suspected cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 am Thursday morning, bringing the state total to 121,085.

The number of cases today is lower than expected due to technical issues, the agency said.

Vaccinations in Oregon

On Thursday, the OHA recorded 5,249 vaccine doses administered – including 995 second doses – bringing the total number of doses administered by the state to 66,920.

This figure is based on preliminary reports of 3,429 doses administered Thursday, as well as 1,820 doses administered on previous days that had not been recorded. OHA’s daily media updates provide preliminary and subject to change information. The OHA dashboards provide more up-to-date immunization data.

All vaccinations have taken place at hospitals in Oregon, long-term care facilities, emergency medical services (EMS) agencies, emergency care facilities, and local public health authorities (LPHA ).

To date, 250,100 doses of vaccine have been delivered to sites across Oregon.

The St. Charles Health System said it administered 2,462 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccinations as of early Thursday.

COVID-19 hospitalizations

The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Oregon is 462, down 18 from Wednesday. There are 91 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 29 fewer than Wednesday.

St. Charles Bend reported 32 patients with COVID-19 as of early Thursday, including six in intensive care, four on ventilators.

The total number of patients in hospital beds may fluctuate between reporting times. Figures do not reflect admissions per day or length of hospital stay. Staff limitations are not taken into account in this data and may further limit bed capacity.

The 1559th death from COVID-19 in Oregon is an 88-year-old woman in Marion County who tested positive on December 3 and died on January 3 at her home. She had underlying conditions.

The 1,560th death from COVID-19 in Oregon is a 74-year-old man in Clackamas County who tested positive on December 22 and died on January 2 at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center. The presence of underlying conditions is being confirmed.

The 1,561st COVID-19 death in Oregon is an 85-year-old woman in Tillamook County who tested positive on December 29 and died on January 5 at her home. She had underlying conditions.

The 1,562nd death from COVID-19 in Oregon is a 56-year-old man in Umatilla County who tested positive on December 30 and died on January 2 at his residence. He had underlying conditions.

The 1,563rd death from COVID-19 in Oregon is an 87-year-old man in Washington County who tested positive on December 14 and died on December 20 at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. He had underlying conditions.
