PORTLAND, Oregon (KTVZ) – For a second day in a row, no COVID-19-related deaths have been reported in Oregon and the state’s death toll remains at 2,137, the Authority reported on Monday. Oregon Health, noting that the winter storm is likely reducing the number of cases and laboratory results.
The OHA also reported 184 new confirmed and suspected COVID-19 cases at 12:01 a.m. Monday, the lowest number in months, bringing the state total to 150,464.
To note: The number of cases and electronic lab results were lower than expected on Monday, the OHA said. This is probably related to the winter weather event and the unsafe travel conditions.
Vaccinations in Oregon
On Monday, the OHA reported that 6,693 new doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been added to the state’s immunization registry. Of this total, 3,650 doses were administered on Sunday and 3,043 were administered the previous days, but were entered in the vaccine registry on Sunday.
It may take several days for the cumulative daily totals to be finalized because providers have 72 hours to report doses administered and technical issues have caused many providers to be late in reporting. The OHA provided technical support to vaccination sites to improve the timeliness of their data entry into the state’s ALERT Immunization Information System (IIS).
Oregon has now administered a cumulative total of 683,887 first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccines. To date, 885,250 doses of the vaccine have been delivered to sites across Oregon.
These data are preliminary and subject to change. The OHA dashboards provide regularly updated immunization data, and the Oregon dashboard was updated on Monday.
To note: The reduced number of administrations is likely the result of adverse weather conditions, the OHA said.
The Saint-Charles health system reported 23,066 COVID-19 vaccinations as of early Monday.
COVID-19 hospitalizations
The number of hospital patients with COVID-19 in Oregon is 210, three fewer than Sunday. There are 53 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit (ICU) beds, one more than Monday.
St. Charles Bend reported 14 COVID-19 patients as of 4 a.m. Monday. Five of the patients were in intensive care, three of them on ventilators.
The total number of patients in hospital beds may fluctuate between reporting times. Figures do not reflect admissions per day or length of hospital stay. Staff limitations are not taken into account in this data and may further limit bed capacity.
