Oregon Rises to Fourth After Ohio State Victory

Oregon took a big leap forward to 4th place in the Associated Press Top 25 in Week 3 following their massive road victory over Ohio State on Saturday.

The Ducks were two-touchdown underdogs, but marched to Columbus and had a 35-28 upset. Voters rewarded Oregon by moving it from No.12 to No.4. Ohio state, meanwhile, went from No.3 to No.9.

The top of the standings remained unchanged with Alabama and Georgia occupying the top two places. Alabama received 60 of 63 first-place votes. Georgia received the other three. Additionally, Oklahoma went from No.4 last week to No.3.

Iowa is another big driver. The Hawkeyes jumped five spots from No.10 to No.5 after an impressive victory over the No.9 from Iowa State. ISU fell to No. 14 after the loss.

The rest of the top 10 was completed by Texas A&M at No.7, Cincinnati at No.8, OSU at No.9 and Penn State at No.10. A&M struggled with Colorado on Saturday but scored a late touchdown. to escape with a 10-7 win.

Elsewhere, Notre Dame needed a touchdown at 1:09 left to beat Toledo at home. This follows an overtime victory over a Florida State team that lost to Jacksonville State in Week 2. As a result, Notre Dame went from No.8 to No.12.

Three teams made their debut in 2021 in the Top 25 AP. That includes the Arkansas No.20, ranked for the first time since 2016 after an impressive victory over the Texas No.15. The Longhorns went completely out of the standings after the loss.

Also debuting in 2021: # 23 BYU and # 25 Michigan. BYU upset Utah on Saturday night, recording their first win against the Utes since 2009. Michigan, meanwhile, beat Washington to improve to 2-0.
