SALEM, Oregon – The Oregon Health Authority announced Thursday that its Pfizer vaccine allocation has been reduced by nearly 15,000 doses for the week of December 20.
Further Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine deliveries are scheduled for the weeks of December 20 and December 27, when allocations of 25,350 and 48,750, respectively, are expected to arrive in Oregon.
This allocation of 25,350 doses is a reduction from the original amount of 40,950 Oregon that was previously scheduled to be allocated during this week.
Federal officials informed the state of the change on Thursday, apparently without any explanation.
OHA officials have said between 300,000 and 400,000 healthcare workers and the staff and residents of Oregon’s long-term care facilities are expected to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in the first phase of the state’s vaccine distribution effort.
The remaining 19,500 doses from this week’s batch will be distributed to health care facilities across the state over the next few days.
