Two weeks of action are now on the program for the women’s soccer teams of the OVC.

All teams have played multiple games now, with most of the conference having played four times in non-conference competition after playing only conference games last season.

Murray State, conference champion last season, also had the best start this season.

The Racers are 2-1, winning back-to-back home games against Missouri State and Louisiana Tech to open the season. They then lost 2-1 to Xavier on the road.

Murray State leads the OVC so far with 10 goals, despite just three games as seven other teams have made four. Most of the goals came in the opener against Missouri State, which ended in a 6-1 score.

Tennessee-Martin also opened the season with a home win, beating Southern Illinois 2-0. The Skyhawks went on to record a 0-0 draw against Little Rock and a 1-0 loss to Indiana before defeating Indiana State 2-1.

Tennessee-Martin has allowed just two goals this season, the least of the OVC at this point.

Southeast Missouri is the only other OVC team to have multiple wins this season. The Redhawks are 2-2.

They opened the season with a 4-0 loss to Memphis, who received votes in the latest NCAA rankings but failed to make the top 25.

Southeast Missouri went on to win two home games, beating Maryville 4-1 and Missouri-St. Louis 1-0, before traveling to play at Mississippi State and losing 1-0.

Southern Illinois-Edwardsville have made the fewest appearances in the OVC this season, two, after canceling their opener against Chicago State.

Instead, the Cougars had their first road game against Loyola Chicago, losing 3-0, before returning home and defeating Kansas City 2-1.

Eastern and Morehead State are 1-2-1 to start the season, both having their only wins being home shutouts.

Eastern lost their first game to Indiana State 3-1 before rebounding to beat Illinois Springfield 3-0 three days later, also at home. They then went on the road and tied Purdue Fort Wayne 0-0 and lost 5-0 to Wisconsin.

Morehead State won the opener, beating North Alabama 2-0. A two-game losing streak followed, consisting of a 3-1 loss to Purdue Fort Wayne on the road and a 1-0 loss at home to Evansville. In their most recent game, the Eagles drew 1-1 with Marshall.

Starting the season with records of 1-3, Belmont and Tennessee Tech.

Belmont suffered its three losses on the road by a combined score of 9-0. The Bruins were able to beat Chattanooga 2-1 at home in Nashville in their third game of the season.

Tennessee Tech lost its first game 1-0 to Vanderbilt before winning a home game against Liberty 1-0.

Following that victory, there was a 6-0 loss to No.22 Tennessee at home and a 1-0 loss to Chattanooga.

The only team without a win in the OVC is Austin Peay, who has yet to score a goal in all four of his appearances this season. The Governors also allowed 11 goals, the most for the OVC, with losses to Western Kentucky, Lipscomb, Kansas State and Miami.

Individually, Murray State’s Abby Jones leads the conference in points (7) and goals (3), although she has only played two games.

Eastern midfielder Nicoletta Anuci is tied for second in the OVC with her 2 goals and 5 points.

East goalie Faith Davies leads the conference in saves (31), saves per game (7.75) and shutouts (2) while placing second with a save percentage of 0.795.
