Nearly one in three people in the United States said they definitely or probably will not get the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a new survey.

The poll, released on Wednesday by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, found that 15% of poll respondents said they “definitely” would not get a vaccine against the coronavirus. Seventeen percent said they would “probably not” get the inoculation.

Sixty-seven percent of survey respondents said they were planning to be vaccinated or had already received a vaccination, including 19% who said they “probably will”, 35% who said they “ definitely will ”and 13% who said they had already received their shot.

Fifty-seven percent of black Americans said they had received the vaccine or “definitely or probably” got the vaccine, according to the survey. Sixty-eight percent of white survey respondents and 65 percent of Hispanic respondents agreed.

Of those who said they were not planning to receive the vaccine, 60 percent raised concerns about possible side effects. Forty-eight percent said they “plan to wait and see if it’s safe” and “can get it later.”

The poll surveyed 1,055 adults in the United States between January 28 and February 1. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
