PENNSYLVANIA – Pennsylvania has launched a new tool that officials hope will dispel some of the current confusion over the COVID-19 vaccine distribution process, as millions of people wait their turn to receive doses.
The “YourTurn” online tool aims to help residents find out where they fit within the state’s priority immunization groups.
Residents under 65 can enter their information to see if they are eligible. If they are eligible, they will be directed to a vaccination appointment registration link. If they are not eligible, they will receive more information on when they will become eligible, based on the information they provided.
“When it’s your turn, we’ll tell you how to find a vaccinator. If it’s not your turn yet, you can enter your contact details to receive updates on vaccine distribution in Pennsylvania and for us to get it to you. know… when it’s your turn to get the vaccine, ”Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam said in a statement.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, senior health ministry adviser Lindsey Mauldin cited the tool when asked about frustration with the state registration process. The state has no plans to move to a single, centralized system like other states, although residents express frustration with signing up for vaccine appointments in multiple locations , including with county government suppliers, pharmacies and health facilities offering the vaccine.
But with a serious shortage of vaccines still known throughout the country, “qualification for a vaccine does not guarantee the doses or appointments available”, state officials remind the public.
If residents do not have internet access to book an appointment, they can call 877-PA-HEALTH
Earlier on Tuesday, Gov. Tom Wolf announced the formation of a joint COVID-19 vaccine task force, made up of members from each legislative caucus. Members of the task force will represent their caucus perspective and work to streamline conversations to target and direct issues of importance, according to an announcement from the governor’s office.
The state carried out 1,049,609 partial vaccinations and 302,639 complete vaccinations on Wednesday morning.
