Scary scene in Dallas on Sunday night when Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad had to be stretched off the ice with an apparent leg injury.

The injury came midway through the second period when he stepped into the corner to play for the puck.

As he spun, his skate appeared to get stuck on the ice resulting in a horrific injury that left him on the ice in severe pain as he gripped his knee.

He was treated on the ice and removed by stretcher.

Ekblad has had a fantastic season for the Panthers – one of the best of his career – and came into play on Sunday with 11 goals and 10 assists in 34 games. He just scored the game-winning goal for the Panthers in overtime on Saturday night and recorded an assist on Sunday.

The Panthers’ only post-game update came from coach Joel Quenneville when he said they would know more about Ekblad’s status on Monday, but expected him to miss. a lot of time.
