Carolina Panthers’ star running back Christian McCaffrey has partnered with Lowe’s to create a lounge at Veterans Bridge Home (VBH) in North Carolina as part of a larger initiative of 32 NFL players gathered to serve their communities.
McCaffrey, 24, was named co-captain of Lowe’s home side in September – a group of current league players working on community projects in their respective cities. For his project, McCaffrey unveiled renderings of a new salon at Charlotte’s VBH on Wednesday.

The VBH works to connect veterans and their families across the Carolinas and provide them with post-service support. The lounge, which is slated to open next year with the new office, will provide space for veterans looking to connect with the community and provide them with resources to find housing and employment.

“It’s great that Lowe’s and the Panthers are a part of it. When you’re in the military, you’re part of one of the biggest and strongest brands the world has ever seen. You are looking for other big brands and strong teams to be a part, ”said VBH Executive Director Blake Bourne.

Carolina Panthers director of community relations Riley Fields said the project was of particular importance to the team.

“When you look at the number of active duty and veterans who inhabit this area, you have about 170,000 active duty members, about one million veterans who reside in the Carolinas,” he explained. . “I think it’s especially rewarding to be able to do something to support and provide resources to those who have served our country.”
Although McCaffrey was unable to attend the unveiling in person due to the coronavirus pandemic, he will be providing autographed memorabilia to display in the living room and looks forward to meeting families at VBH soon.
