Parler CEO John Matze said today his social media company was abandoned by virtually all of its business alliances after Amazon, Apple and Google terminated their agreements with the social media service.
“All the vendors, from text messaging to email providers to our lawyers all left us on the same day,” Matze said today on Fox News.
Matze admitted the bans could bankrupt the company while raising free speech concerns, calling it “an assault on everyone.”
“They’re all working together to make sure at the same time that we not only lose access to our apps, but they’re actually shutting down all of our servers tonight, off the internet,” Matze said. “They tried not only to kill the app, but also to destroy the entire company. And it’s not just these three companies. Every provider, from text messaging to email providers to our lawyers all left us on the same day. “
The remarks come a day after Amazon removed Talking from its servers, joining Apple and Google. They all cited the potential for spreading violent content on the site, which is favored by conservatives as an alternative to Twitter and Facebook.
Matze said the services unfairly targeted Parler. “They are trying to falsely claim that we are somehow responsible for the events that happened on the 6th,” he said, when the protesters took control of the Capitol.
“It would bankrupt anyone,” he said of the tech bans. “This thing could destroy anyone.”
He added: “We will do our best to get back online as quickly as possible. But we have a lot of problems because all the vendors we talk to say they won’t work with us. Because if Apple doesn’t approve and Google doesn’t approve, they won’t. “
