Hello the
Restaurants, bars, wineries and breweries have been hit after being hit by coronavirus restrictions. Some closed shortly after county-wide closure in March, and even more struggled at stay afloat via take-out and outdoor dining.
When another temporary ban on eating out was announced last week, it was a fatal blow to those whose doors were still open. In response, the county has launched a grant program, providing $ 30,000 to eligible restaurants. The catch, reports my colleague Elina shatkin, is that few people will make the cut.
Restaurants must be located in the county from LA but not cities from LA or Pasadena, have fewer than 25 employees and meet a number of other requirements. Companies that offered outdoor dining before the most recent ban will be given priority.
So this is far from a perfect solution, but it is something. Oh, and LA County set another record yesterday with nearly 7,600 new cases of coronavirus. Read on to find out more about what’s happening in Los Angeles today, and stay safe there.
